Your foods look great. I guess with reasonable price and good service, your restaurant will be running well.

I went to a Chinese restaurant fully owned by Chinese person last night with couple of friends. i don't really like the foods there. i found the taste a bit plain. The price of the food is about 6 to 8 dollars per dish.

For school in Cambodia. Here are some renowned international schools that i could think of.

1. East West International school
http://www.ewiscambodia.org/

2. Learning Jungle
http://www.learningjungle.com/kh/

3. Golden Gate American School
http://www.ggas.edu.kh/

4. International School of Phnom Penh
http://www.ispp.edu.kh/

5. CIA First International School
http://ciaschool.edu.kh/

6. Northbridge International School

7.Hope International School (Religious based school)

8.LOGOS International School (Religious based school)

Restaurant locations

You are right that there are more restaurants along the riversides. I actually don't know much about those restaurants as i seldom go there to eat. As far as i know those restaurants seemed to target tourists rather than expats in Phnom Penh. Restaurants along the riverside are really diverse. There are cheap places and really expensive places.

Also there are more restaurants BBK1 (Beoung Keng Kang 1), street 19, and Tonle Bassac too. These restaurants seem to target more on expats. My suggestion, i think you should look for a place around BKK 1 area.

just a quick add;
my daughter went to i2 of the international schools here in phuket from 6 years old on.
The ONLY international school of the same quality was Northbridge which would cost 20% more than Thailand
the others are overpriced an teaching staff is nowhere what you expect for what they charge

you need to figure are you going for local ( expat and Khmers) or tourist. Riverside is dam expensive but u get tons of walk in traffic

Khmers will not learn any quicker or easier than a Thai

Thanks for this lads. Gives me a bit of hope.

Don't worry about the food. It's on a par if not better than a good Chinese in the UK. Read Wok N Rok trip advisor. The last few reviews were my Wife cooking the orders Herself. Earlier ones were trusting Thais to get it right. Fail. We just need to decide if it's worth a visit to PP to check it out.

What about Asian food stores. Do they stock Chinese products?

Even Chinatown in Bangkok don't stock a lot of ingredients we use. Need to get friends to bring over from the UK. That might not be possible in PP.

I fully understand that Richard. But, can you find Khmer staff? In Pattaya you CANNOT find ANY staff what so ever. Even vegetable choppers, assistants. Sign outside for one Month 10,000 Baht basic plus tips. Free room, laundry etc. Not ONE phone call. Yet we had a bar fully staffed with Thai bar girls. Go figure.

Only me and Her needed in a kitchen mate. Not expecting Khmers to learn. Just clean up, orders etc.

I must have been extremely lucky when I ran a hotel in Siem Reap with hard-working, dedicated Khmer staff. I must have done something wrong?

And I will relocate my daughter to PP, her school in HCMC is about 10 times the figure bandied about in one post:-(

Sounds exactly like Pattaya! Mobile phone land:)

Me and Her in the kitchen. No cook required mate. Took my Wife six years in 4 different UK Chinese restaurants to learn this. I don't expect a Khmer to pick this up quickly, if at all. Just a bit of service out front. And maybe delivery.

Our problem here was I couldn't help because of the strict work laws. Some nights She cooked more than 100 sit in and take away meals single handedly. While 4 Thais in the kitchen getting 10,000 Baht a Month each looked on. And watched Her. Our total wage bill was 80,000 Baht a Month and most utterly useless.

I know about the cost price beer. Although, spirits, wines are fairly cheap and quality. Used to be.

Yes, electricity double pricing scams. Rent increases. Been through that in Cambo mate.
When your staff takes an order, one of you will have to come back out and verify the order again with the customer every single time. For example, last night I ordered a chicken masala and was brought a chicken salad.

The riverside is saturated though. I hear not enough foreigner places around Russian market and also the new entertainment area at Koh Pich (Diamond Island) will be the new place to be.

Sorry, but I blame the owner/manager. I eat out a lot and there are plenty of restaurants where service is great and where I have never had the wrong order brought to me.

Same thing happened here, constantly. The phone in take away orders would be taken by me or her. Two numbers to call. The sit in, yes would need to be checked. No different here. Constant feck ups. The beauty about Cambodia is I can get involved in the kitchen and hands on running.
