Good Evening one and all.

After a brief hiatus from Cambodia, I've been doing some consulting work in the UK. I have been working with some schools, which required me to get a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check. Unsurprisingly, it came back clean, and I am permitted to work with children and within school environments.

I find myself at a crossroads in life, and have recently been giving serious consideration to teaching. My background is almost 30 years in business environments, (mainly sales driven), and wondered whether my personal work experience would be of benefit teaching something like "Business Studies" in SEA? I come with a wide experience in the business world, and a DBS certificate that allows me to work with children.

The advice I seek is whether it is worth pursuing what I think would be my dream. The last 12 years of my business life have been spent running businesses in foreign countries, where training and coaching and mentoring were the most important part of my job. I loved this aspect, and took great satisfaction from seeing the transition of my colleagues to the great employees they have become and continue to be.

Perhaps I am being naive, and my skills won't translate as well to the classroom. I suppose that is going to have to be a blind leap of faith. But I really would welcome the feedback from the forum on this? Silly little things like, what could I realistically be expected to earn? Are my skills transferable in this sense? I really would appreciate any advice you might all be able to give.

It is a dream, but it needs to be considered carefully rather than a "both feet first" approach. It is hugely scary to think about doing anything different to what I have been doing for 30 years almost.

Fear of failure is always there, but I've rarely worried about that. I'd rather fail after trying than fail to try at all. The worst that can happen is that I find it's not for me and go back to what I am good at.
