Teaching in Cambodia vs Thailand

Post by soursop »

Hello everyone.

For those who have taught English in both Cambodia and Thailand what differences and similarities have you noticed?

I know of 2 differences so far. 1) Thailand pays 3-5 times more. And 2) Cambodia doesn't require a degree.

3-5 times as much? I don't think so.

What do you mean, "won't accept expat"?

Expats typically get paid a lot more for the same positions compared to locals.

What company are you saying won't hire expats?

For the ESL only teacher - there's more money in Vietnam than in Thailand and quite a bit more. There's a little bit more money in Thailand than in Cambodia (but not very much).

Qualified teachers, on the other hand, do reasonably well in all 3.
