Re: Suitable gift for wedding

My facebook decided to tell me what I was doing this day over all the years I've been to drunk to remember. Coincidentally I was at a hooker's wedding in Battambang 3 years ago and, with great foresight took a snap of the fish course.

Now I'm no fisherman, but looks like mackeral to me. Indeed t'was the same fish served up at the happiest day (for my wife) and the most expensive of mine (still weeping).

The tuna was epic - cut in pieces, not a massive fish on each table, and not 1 of those giant ones off the tele either (maybe undersized and illegal). It was for an army top dog's daughter. Taking photographs of the fish course to prove myself in internet arguments is a bit weird, so don't do it on the regs, but glad I did in this case.

Yup, looks like mackerel.

I wonder what fresh tuna costs /kg?

Cheese and wine at Intercon has fresh salmon, yummy.

Fish course, usually only 1 type, 1 average size. (I think)
The fruit on the dance floor (you just need to be sober enough to... nebmind)

The fish (good luck working this one out)

The piglet

And the sauce, which brings us back to not seeing the fruit on the dance floor

It was good food, I'm glad we ended up giving $60 for two as we'd easily have paid $25 a head for that standard of meal. Khmer bong across the table was teaching his underage son to drink free spirits like a real man, so the entertainment was hilarious. Took me a while to realise I was top of the tree by simple virtue of being paler than most in the room, and that nobody was going to start a dish until I did. We fudged it around my fish allergy, but I don't think anyone noticed. I think our dinner companions might have been dragging their heels a little as the clearing-the-table rotation overtook us and left us stranded in a sea of cleared tables and disgruntled staff with dark-and-stormy glances.

TIL that the kids who collect the cans can't touch them until the cans hit the floor. I'd reach down and softly tap the floor with two or three empty cans and then quietly hold them out to a kid - he soon got the gang of it.

A good night. Thanks for your input.

I also found its hard to stand for photos when there's a stale breadroll and an empty water bottle trying to trip you up. Also, if you're the westerner at a wedding, don't pose for your own photos anywhere near the bride. You'll end up with all the photographers, and the bride will get dark-and-stormy.

Fruit? What fruit?

Johnny Walker Platinum? Sorry, pay for the Lagavulin instead (probably cheaper, Lagavulin is around $80)

It helps mask audible mastication, too.
