Stereo Equipment

Post by Kenr »

Is it common for stereo equipment to be more expensive than it is in the West? I've been looking at sound bars and I found a Yamaha YAS-209 that I am thinking about getting. It is going for $380 here and back in the US and on Crutchfield the regular price is $349. Just curious if audio equipment is taxed heavily here. Thanks.

It's less than 10% extra. Think about the volumes (no pun intended) that the manufacturer probably ships each year to the US and then think about how many might sell in one year here.

I appreciate that. Do to my current living situation in an apartment with not a whole lot of extra space I have to stick with a sound bar. Not even planning on getting one with a separate subwoofer.
