Hope you find him soon.

How much did you send and how many days over his visa was he staying? It would be good if we knew if he asked for a normal amount for overstay fees.

And you don't have a picture handy of your son?

if he was locked up they would contact the embassy for him and visit and than he could advise them to contact you
OR you could reach out to the Embassy.
Even if he was in an accident there would be a trail from Hospital to Embassy

30 years old, not a child anymore

Perhaps he just wants to " disappear for awhile"

Have faith, he will turn up

When i stated traveling back in the 70's, i'd be out of touch for months and months at a time.

Seems he's turned over a new leaf. First in the dine-and-dash thread, now here. Not a condescending, snarky comment to be found. Only succinct, helpful, dare I say caring submissions.

Well done my man, look forward to more of the same. :thumb:

Asking questions that are already answered in the OP or irrelevant ones hardly seems to be a Phoenix worth rising, more like one struggling getting up.

We are trying to get a photo from friends of Vince who are on his FB page. We don't have access to this. Hopefully sorted tomorrow.

When we spoke with Vince and an Embassy official via teleconference we were asked to send $2000 NZ to pay immigration. There was also money for an airfare from PP to Thailand. We were going to buy his ticket from Thailand to NZ once he let us know he had arrived in Bangkok.

The NZ police have been helpful and they checked his bank account. It appears all money was withdrawn over two days. We have also just been informed his account was accessed two days ago, but of course it was empty. We have no way of knowing if this was Vince or someone else.

We are realistic to know Vince may have simply used the money to stay longer in PP. He is a grown up, but I can't express enough how out of character this is. Vince can be immature and naive, but this behaviour is not normal for him.

The NZ police have also interviewed his friends here in NZ. We are also hoping to find a contract for his girlfriend who returned to Germany.

Once again, thank you for all your help. We are grateful for all the support.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.

I am wary of some of this...
You tele conferenced with him already, sent the $$ and he withdrew it. One can assume he paid his fine an left Cambodia as he would not have been allowed to stay as he would not have a valid visa
Aren't u friends with him on FB? if so u can get his photo and surely you must have a photo f ur son somewhere in ur house.

so he is in Thailand or...

How, pray tell, did the police check his bank account? did he give them the login/password ?
Why would the NZ police be involved? did u file a missing person report?
Who informed you the account was accessed 2 days ago? If it was, they could also have told you from where

Just lots not adding up

Yeah, this kind of stinks. No photo of your kid?

On the chance it's legit : Thais don't allow bums with dirty blond hair and no money and no onward ticket into their fair land.

Teleconference? Where was Vince and where was the embassy official and how sure are you that it was a real embassy official and not just a friend of Vince's helping him convince you to send Vince money?

Cambodia is a strange place. A fairly large percentage of Western guys living here would, in fact, lie to their own mothers to get money. A lot of guys visit here pr move here and get hooked on the easily available drugs. Has your sone ever had a drug problem?

You say Vince's account was recently accessed a few days ago. How and where was it accessed? ATM in Phnom Penh? Where? What street?

I mean, we all suspect it was on or near Street 172 in Phnom Penh, but I'd like confirmation.
