Agree with you 100% about Independence Wacky its a magic beach and the Small Beach Bar is great. But the end of Occheuteal? That's where the creek comes out and is possibly the most polluted part of the beach. Particularly after the first heavy rainfalls of the season - ie right now.

A couple of years ago I used to drive out to the far end of Ocheuteal to swim (no beach bars then.) One day the beach was all black. I asked the lady at the guest house across the street what was the nasty black stuff. She said that the sewage treatment plant didn't operate properly and from time to time they flushed the whole thing down the stream that runs into Ocheuteal. I started swimming at Hawaii and Independence beach's after that. (Look out for the brown trout at Ocheuteal.)

I do not think that plant has been fully operational since built. I think it just overflows.

^^^^ Yup 1/2 of yesterday and all of today. It was pretty intense 3 or 4 days ago. I left a 2' tall waste basket out on the deck and it was overflowing in < 24 hours. It wasn't run off either. It all came from the sky.
