I had to get my Indian visa prior to traveling to Kolkata in January 2013. From memory most of the paperwork was about demonstrating that my parents, grandparents and great grandparents were not from Pakistan/Afghanistan etc.

I knew that Americans needed a visa before going to India, I just don't know what that takes or how long...

If we can't get visas in time, I'll report back and you can all laugh at me and make stupid memes with my stupid face on it.

Hey, Americans don't need visas for the Oktoberfest :beer3: (just wanted to remind you)

Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Goa is a go! ! !

Getting the visa was a fucking nightmare, taking 2 days and being sent from the embassy to an agent, who wanted to send us back to the embassy.

And the kicker?

India will soon be Visa-On-Arrival for almost everyone, beginning 4 days AFTER we arrive.

INDIAN VISA ON ARRIVAL EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 01, 2014

We are delighted to advise you that Indian Government has today decided to extend Visa on Arrival to all the tourists visiting India with only a very exception. This facility shall be applicable from Oct 01, 2014.
