Plenty of same sex marriages these days and as the laws change around the world there will be more

Its so outdated to say " a man and a woman as the basis for a family unit"
so my raising my daughter alone since she was 3 , we were not a family unit?? :please:

Is this one of them (from her 'Friends' list) ?

I recently did some reading in the area of child development and specifically children raised in a single parent household (male or female parent.... come to this later) versus both parents (male & female.. not same sex.. again come to this later)

Anyway, the TL;DR upshot of it all was basically,
Single mom = bad
single dad = good
traditional family = best

Why is this so, well according to the studies is this ....

A child raised in a standard male-female parent household, no matter the socio-economic demographic that family is in is least likely to have serious issues as an adult
A child raised by a single female parent has the highest likelihood of having serious social issues as an adult.
Now, this is the interesting part.....A child raised by a single parent who is male have almost the same likelihood of having serious issues as an adult as a child raised in a traditional family (male+female).

The reasoning for the stats on single males as parents was surprising to the researchers and they proposed a number of reasons why the data could have been flawed. But the reason they put forward as to why the data may not have been flawed and was a true representation of the facts is this:-
Children raised by a single female have no good male role models in their early years. At school? all female teachers, care staff (nurses and a lot of doctors are women), they are surrounded by women at an early age.
Children raised by a single male have a good male role model in the father so their development is more balanced.

There were inconsistent results when looking at the data about same sex parents but it was higher, overall, than the traditional male-female parents for social issues as an adult.

I'd try a woman instead of a girl.

How is that ageist?

A Girl, by definition is below legal age - teenagers or less, risks being arrested to try.

Also a level of emotional maturity.
I am sure there are girls in women’s bodies walking around. Plenty of movies about first love, summer romance, crushes, etc. Teenagers (even grown ones) aren’t usually ready for serious relationships.

Women go out with their girl-friends, socially, without being labelled lesbian
Women have boyfriends
Boyfriend-Girlfriend is used quite safely without implying paedophilia

Some vagueries of the use of English, colloquially. Or should we all now have a pocket lawyer on speed dial to safeguard our every word?

That’s the whole point of colloquialisms. They can be read in many different ways.

And poked fun at in many different ways as well.

Please enjoy your day.
