Sending household goods to Cambodia

Post by Anty »

If I can figure out a visa (another post) I am planning a move Mayish from Korea. I’d like to send a small crate/pallet of stuff, household goods.

Has anyone done this, and have a company to recommend? Can be by slow boat, just want to keep some things I’ve collected over the years but boxing up and mailing seems ridiculous and more expensive than a cargo crate or pallet.

If the value of the load is less than $1000, do yourself a big favour and leave it there. You can replace most things here. It will also give you a chance to explore the place by going to endless places just trying to find basic things. It's such fun...

It’s maybe $2000? Some antiques and stuff I’ve collected, sentimental things (my great great aunts steamer trunk), I’d like my nice bedding and dishes and pet stuff. Believe it or not, it’s worth it to me to send it since I can (probably?) afford it, even if it doesn't make sense. I like to make “home” wherever I am.

I just can’t figure out how- I was planning Vietnam and it was easy.

I can talk to Korean shipping companies, but wanted to see if anyone knows the process from there. Duty to pay? That kind of thing.

The shipping companies are the only route to go. But... seek a guarantee of a 'no later than' delivery date. For Less Than Container Load (LCL) your container wont move until the agent finds other LCL cargo to go into the container. This could take a long time, so seek a guarantee that it will be shipped by a certain date. They might not even give such a warranty and that should be a warning that it could take months before it turns up.
