The top four international schools (Cambodian schools are not an option for you) charge over $1000 USD per month per child - this is not an assumption, this is fact.

So you're looking at $24,000 USD for education alone, unless you home school. Sure, there are cheaper options for English-speaking schools, but as with the bigger schools they're businesses first, learning institutions about, oh, tenth?

If you have a teaching qualification and are a registered teacher in your home country, you may well land a teaching job at one of the big four, which may pay some of your relocation expenses (but probably not, unless you serve two years), your visas, work permit, and extension costs, as well as trips home (after the stated two years of service).

Even the worst state school in the UK would have far better facilities than any public school here. I'm not trying to put the Cambodian education system down, it has been improving and innovating a lot in the past few years. However resources seem limited, and it's not even an issue as they won't let foreign kids into a public school.
There are plenty of private institutions of varying quality which range from around $400 a month up to better places where it's more like $1000. I was a bit miffed when I was in the UK last and saw the beautiful school my sister's kids go to, with its hockey pitches and gyms and trees and we figured I paid way more for my son to go to a school that's got a cement yard covered in astroturf.

Why would anyone want to plan to stay here just now. Many expats who are here now, are waiting to see how the visas pan out and if there is anywhere to live in a years time.

For a mid range school, you are looking at around 15K for a year for both kids. On top of that, I would have 30k. You can live modestly on 2k a month and have a cushion.

As long as you're working, the visas aren't a problem.
