registrationservices.gov.kh
My company wants me to set up a company and not register as "self-employed" here in Cambodia. The company is foreign and I am a foreign citizen.
The question is, does registrationservices.gov.kh also provide you with a work permit when registering as a "sole proprietorship" company?
Or would I have to apply for that separately at the ministry of labor here: https://www.fwcms.mlvt.gov.kh ? And if so, should I apply for a quota for a foreign worker or register as "self-employed" with my newly set up Cambodian company as my employer?

Bearing in mind that you will accounts, tax returns etc to deal with, might be wirth looking at this company https://www.makingiteasycambodia.com/
Yes, they charge, but sometimes it's better to pay a little to get someone who knows what they're doing

I did contact that very company already, but they weren't very responsive or helpful.Bluenose wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 9:08 am Bearing in mind that you will accounts, tax returns etc to deal with, might be wirth looking at this company https://www.makingiteasycambodia.com/

I wonder how you will succeed in getting the quota to employ a foreigner on a one man show company
Driving on Cambodian roads is just like playing a classic arcade top scroller. The only difference is a force feedback controller, the limitation to only one life and the inability to restart, once Game Over
Re: registrationservices.gov.kh
Yes, I was wondering the same thing
I called the Ministry of Labor, and they told me to contact a specific person, who presumably spoke better English. I got an automatic SMS saying to contact him through Telegram, which I did. He had a palm tree icon so assuming he is on vacation. No reply from him as of yet.

Re: registrationservices.gov.kh
A little related to the OP, my own query related to setting up a company in Cambodia.
I started the registration process with this website a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it never got completed as the authority themselves never responded to queries.
Fast forward to 2024. I’ve been asked to provide some consultancy services separate to my normal job. To do business with me, they need suppliers to have the following, (or equivalent)
Tax ID
VAT number
Business registration number
This applies to those who are self employed, which I would be in this case.
It’s a local law requirement in a European company.
Is there any expat who who has done similar in Cambodia?

You have to apply for your Work Permit separately from business registration. Here is the WP application portal www.fwcms.mlvt.gov.kh

This is what I am trying to do as well. I'll keep you posted in this thread.Freightdog wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 4:21 pm Is there any expat who who has done similar in Cambodia?
I put my company name through google translate and it got rejected. I paid some translation service $5 to get it properly translated and it's been 3 days now, and they haven't rejected it. The whole process supposedly takes 8 working days.
I also got a call from a guy working for the Cambodian tax office. He wanted to inspect my "office" which is my studio apartment. I explained to him I'm planning to work out of my home and have no employees. I was unsure if you could have your business address the same as the residential, but he said that was fine. He took some pictures of my apartment and then he left.

That is my understanding as well. But they offer three options. I'm unsure which one applies in my case.PSD-Kiwi wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 6:55 am You have to apply for your Work Permit separately from business registration. Here is the WP application portal www.fwcms.mlvt.gov.kh
