red NG stamp on $100 bill?
red NG stamp on $100 bill?
Hi, I received a deposit back a few days ago, and among the 4 100dollar bills, 2 of them had a red NG (only meaning for NG i'm aware of is "no good") stamped on it,
The two bills that has the stamp are "Series 2009 A" bills. Does anyone know if the stamp has any meaning/implications?
After some googling i found this "The older US dollars (with the smaller presidential portraits) are not accepted in Cambodia, nor are most of the pre-2010 $100 bills without the latest authenticity features." so my first thought was okay the bill is legit it's just not accepted in Cambodia and some cashier someplace stamped it NG, but if I'm not misunderstanding the series 2009A bills were released in 2013.
Would appreciate input on this as this is the first $100 bills I've gotten that I didn't get straight from the ATM.
Is there a chance (substantially higher than normal) the notes are fake? If so what should I do? I was planning on a trip to the Casino during the holiday, can I get in trouble if I try to use these bills and it turns out they're not legit? In general I'd think the answer would be yes but then why would these bills be in circulation and why would my landlord have accepted these bills when she got it.
If that's a bad idea then what is the best way for me to validate the worth of these notes?
the NG stamp being at the "D" spot illustrated https://www.uscurrency.gov/denominations/100 concerns me, although I couldn't reach a conclusion from checking it myself, but I'm a complete beginner at looking for forgeries of any sort, and the first time I saw a dollar bill of any sort in person was a little over 2 months ago.
Thanks for any help guys

The "NG on that bill does NOT mean its NO GOOD. I have gotten many those with different initials. It's one of those bills are from ship companies just to tract down their money incase of disbute.

as above
doesn't mean anything
99% of bad bills found are taken OUT of circulation

Yes, you're correct it means "no good".
I am authorized to dispose of your NG currency so I will be happy to pick it up from you at anytime for no additional charge.

A whole lot of US dollar bills used to have pink stamps similar to that on them, I never knew what they meant but they were legal tender. There are many ways to tell fake bills from genuine ones, the paper quality is the most obvious one, then you can look at details such as embedded metallic strips and watermarks. I've never had anyone try to pass me a fake note.
