Quality Cambodia food restaurant

Post by Pedroviera »

I'm hoping to get some tips from you guys. Looking for Quality Cambodian Food Restaurant in phnom Penh. A restaurant that has good enough Cambodia food to pass the test for 3 age 40+ Cambodian sisters. And one 80 year old Cambodian woman (mom) ) The sisters are the best of the best cooks (I know this for a fact!) . They say mom is even better . They do not like Cambodian restaurants (any restaurants) as a rule. Price don't matter. One time thing hoping to make a nice memory. All about the food, don't have to be fancy/expensive . But fancy and expensive is OK... Help!

Listen to yourself:
"Spouse worked at higher end Cambodia restaurant years ago for 5 years. After watching main cook sneeze, wipe his nose, use bucket style shitter where you rinse with hand (no wash hands ever after) ect most of staff used private rice cooker in break area and wouldn't eat the free food at restaurant. That's how scared they were of the dirty cooks......"

Why would we know any better?

Haha good point Ya I'm in a bad spot. This way I can blame on " foreigner said good sorry" my go to line for bad choices... I can dig up decent western restaurant but her mom don't eat it and sisters not much. Dinner out my idea but I might bail (if can't find place worth gambling on) and they cook at home. I can be a real hero if I find this hidden gourmet Cambodian restaurant...

Alternatively try one of the Cambodian table BBQ places, Suki soup places, or one of the Japanese hotpot/BBQ restaurants, or Japanese food in general.

I find these good fun and everyone has something to do.
These places give me more peace of mind as only people on the table get to handle cooked food.

There is a Shabu Shabu restaurant close to Build Bright University.
Sorya shopping center has a Japanese BBQ place.

Romdeng is pretty good. Touristy and a little pricey, but clean and tasty. http://tree-alliance.org/our-restaurant ... gJXc_D_BwE

My in-laws absolutely love Carl's Jr.
I am sooooo very sorry if you can't understand or appreciate my sarcastic facetiousness.

Kravanh on Sothearos without a doubt. HE’s family are quite regular, chef used to cook for the King as far as I understand, but probably a bad Chinese whisper!

It’s the best Khmer food I’ve had in PP, if you’re prepared to go down a notch or two in food quality I still enjoy Malis on Norodom when sitting outside- it’s just got a nice thing going on if you don’t mind being a bit warmer- food always tastes better outside.
