Procedure to get a Retirement Visa in Cambodia at Age 69? (USA Pensioner)

Post by Hawaiian »

USA pensioner in Bangkok (KhaoSan) until Sept 26th desiring Retirement Visa for KH. Anyone experienced can tell me? Also, I've too many possessions to carry alone and want low cost shipping advice. Several extra suitcases as have been away from USA since 2010. Want to rent "comfortable" studio in Sihanoukville under $400 if possible. Tried searching online but EXPENSIVE those sites.
Thanks Guys (and gals)

 search function!

1. Obtain E-type (Ordinary) Visa on arrival, $35, valid for 1 mth.

2. Take passport to visa agent at least 1 week before your VOA expires and apply for 12 month ER (Retirement) EOS (Extension of Stay). Approximate cost $270 - 300 depending on agent and location.

3. 11 months later, repeat step 2.

Studios in Sihanoukville rent for $500 plus per month to the Chinese. I have one you can have for $490 per month.

Almost no western run places there now and very few westerners still living there.

I remember Charlie Harper's, Kangaroo Kitchen and used to live at Phum G.B.T. for $150/mo. Was practicing speaking Mandarin "for fun" but now it's almost required. Being from Honolulu and having spent A LOT of time at Waikiki Beach, I love being able to see and hear the waves coming in and going back out. Where is a recommended location where more Westerners frequent, with reasonable rental rates and the ocean?
