I am not sure it is the same person. There was a girl caught carrying drugs. This was on Australian television. The general opinion was, she didnt really understand the repercussions, and was not mr big, so she should not get the death sentence.

Any update on the Cambodian woman Duncan?

Now 7 and a half years on DA, Just have to wait for the system to wear itself out . Malaysia now has a new King, Change of leader soon to someone who knows what it like to spend time in prison, and a completed change in death penalty laws, still in progress.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

If you are incarcerated for a visa overstay, what is the jail time in lieu of fine? I was under the impression that they would send you home once they realized you are a broke ass and cannot raise any funds to pay the fine, or have extracted out as much as they think they can reasonably expect?

There are no set rules, but yes.
