No chance of me opening a pool hall Cambodia, been there and done that in Thailand, never again!

The more feedback I get the more it looks like the market will be mainly moneyed Khmer, so I just need to find a decent, reliable installation team and we're all set to give it a go...

i think he meant they just dont have as many as before, last time i was there they had 3 good quality pool tables but saying that, its been possibly a year since i ventured into there

this is news to me, i always recall they had 2 tables to the right when u entered the upstairs and 1 9 ball table near entrance to bathrooms, even back to 2008/09 when i used to frequent the bar. Think last time was there was like 2017 after Mike died,( passed in 2016) , it just wasn't the same

one slate or 3 pieces? heated or non-heated?
there is another thread from 2018 about pooltables and dito clubs maybe you find more answers there.
some import them from VN.
price seems fair for quality product and warranty but will most pay this amount that is another question. lots of places just dont have proper space for an 8footer.
near wat Phnom and str. 90 there is a shop that makes pool tables.

They are 3 piece 25mm slate on most of our tables other than the Rhino Pro which is 3 piece 30mm. Not heated, that generally only happens on carom tables and some of the top end snooker tables to the best of my knowledge.

Aileex seem's to be the most common brand there and they do come across from Vietnam. However, they are all 9ft tables and we would like to concentrate on the 8ft market.

The prices I'm getting told about on the locally made tables are about $350 for a table with a concrete base. That is crazy cheap, but obviously you tables won't play anything like ours.

Cheap and nasty I guess. An old hand told me back in the 90's the first tables he saw around had concrete instead of slate. A mate had a plywood topped one that warped early on. You get what you pay for. A couple of grand isn't much if it lasts a decade.

The pool scene is still growing here and locals seem to like it. I think there was a Khmer woman who did well or won a few Korean snooker comps recently. The country might be ripe for some better tables. But I'd be interested in the import tax, like someone else said.

The best players I've watched lately hang out at the Pickled Parrot on St 104. Often going out from the break and calling every shot. It would be great to have a local pool comp going. I'd think Score, Pickled Parrot and maybe Sharky could put together a few teams.

$20 for a cue sounds good. Even if it's not quality it would sure beat most house cues. Id be interested in a higher end cue. Would you set up a display shop here or work to orders? Good luck.

not sure, first time i went was around 2013 and could have sworn there was like 4 tables but i was only there for a beer and didnt pay much attention, so could be wrong

i know the tables they had after the refurb were new tables

Thanks for this.

A few people have mentioned customs, but actually it's not such an issue as everything comes in under the China-Asean FTA, we navigate around Thai customs just fine in Thailand and never paid import duty here.

We won't be setting up a shop there but a Khmer partner might choose to do so. Our expansion plan is based around having one quality distributor per country, so initially we will get a couple of tables into bars then will try to get somebody to take over distribution from there. If we get stung on those two tables import tax wise then no biggy, it's only two tables not a full container.

On the cues, we can bring them in with the tables tax free, so when the tables start coming in then e can bring a selection of cues in as well, As and when we're ready to do that I will post up on here, or maybe take an advert out, will need to chat to the mods about that.
