Police check for immigration purposes
Re: Police check for immigration purposes
I followed your good advice the first time I got the Certificate of Residence, there was no charge but I paid a donation fee like you have quoted above of 10,000reil. But my problem here started with a busy body if you like on asking for the correct office for the area. She informed me they require payment, when I did go to the office they told me to return on another day. Still is not resolved and payment mentioned was your top figure.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Mrs KimLuch's contact details please. Thanks in advance.willyhilly wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2016 11:38 am Hurrah! Done! Sincere thanks to all here.
My partner produced the document from the bush sangkat where I have resided for five years. I took along this paper, my passport with copies of the bio page and latest visa. The office faces the riverside on the eastern side of the Justice Dept building. We parked on the corner of 240 and walked through the building to the far side. Walked past the girls on the left, opened the door and found Mrs Kimluch in a crowded little office with several other Khmers.
I apologised for no original passport or visa and she asked me what year I entered the country. My tuk tuk agent failed at completing the form so Mrs Kimluch offered to do it for me in English for a total of 290,000 riel. She gave me a receipt with her phone number on and told my tuk to return with the receipt on the 19th of October. He was not required to complete a form for this.
All very brisk and efficient. My relief was overpowering.
Mrs Kimluch was surprised that I asked for her, and asked me how I knew of her.

are we allowed to bump things to the first page or is that frowned upon?

Re: Police check for immigration purposes
Kim Luch works at the MoJ, she is not the fixer known as Call Kim
Re: Police check for immigration purposes
We got this back from the MOJ in 3 days by using a lawyer. Cost was arounf $100 I believe
Re: Police check for immigration purposes
I was told by locals that most simple matters with police can be resolved by 2usd. More serious ones about 20 USD. They desperately need the money to buy gold bracelets or necklace'; most police has them.
Re: Police check for immigration purposes
Last time I got one for a Khmer it was $70 from MOJ and included official translation into English. All done through my tame notary. took about a week i think. Undoubtedly a bit trickier and probably more expensiveif you are not cambodian. Just suprised an embassy is asking a barang for a cambodian police report. They usually want to know where you have lived before and require one from all counties where you have lived during the past x years, x being dependent on the purpose and the country.
