Poker Question...

Post by General Mackevili »

I've randomly been playing online poker lately (I have to do something when I chain smoke) and I know jack shit about poker.

However, I came across this tutorial that seems to say a Straight beats a Full House.

Is that ever true? Or is this simply an error?

I was under the impression that ANY Full House beats ANY Straight.

What's going on here?

If it matters, it was from the Android app, WSOP (World Series of Poker).

It is because you are playing Omaha. You can only use 2 cards from your hand. You need to use all 4 cards to make your full house which you can't do in Omaha.

5 karma for me.

That's weird full house is definitely higher then straight, is that four a heart? In which case you have a straight flush which is better then a full house...

Depends on the game you're playing, but in general:

Royal flush
Straight flush
Four of a kind
Full house
Flush
Straight
Three of a kind
Two pair
Pair
High card

While correct you can not use all 4 cards in your hand for Omaha as stated above. So with 2 cards his best hand is a straight not a full house.

Ah, I see it now.

So a Full House wasn't even an option in the example.

Got it.

Karma sent, and much appreciated!

Glad I read the tutorial. Image

Better to learn no limit hold em, as you can play more cash games, tournaments and sit n go's, live or online. I have ebooks and coaching vids if you need any guidance.
