Phsar Prum / Pailin crossing with Thai car....

Post by Suksan1 »

Greetings! I am Still debating whether to attempt trying to take my Thai car across the Phsar Prum crossing as I want to explore nearby Pailin and go as far as Battambang - or do the sensible thing and just fly to PP and backtrack. Can anyone help me with the following:

1. WIll they issue an ordinary visa (NOT tourist visa) at that crossing without much headaches (USD 35)?

2. Has anyone ever taken their TH car across that border crossing? (I do have the blue Thai car passport)?
What are the odds? How much "tea money" and additional hassles were involved?

3. Bonus question: i doubt any short-term liability insurance on the Cambodian side is available, correct?

Thank you!

FORGET IT, u cant enter there but u can exit
only two borders will allow a thiai car in, Osmach ( south of Surin) and Hat Lek ( west of Trat)
DO NOT DRIVE a thai car in Shv unless u lke to pay fines
Car passport is ONLY for Laos, enter a that lek u pay 100 baht/day,enter at Osmach FREE
NO insurance unless u do ur crossing using an agent and takes up to 3 months.
I just drove south to north, east to west around Cambodia in August
