Payment taken Monday 4th December
New Passport back at VFS today, Tuesday 12 December.

12 days. Is that a record?
They can be speedy when they want to be.
My kid’s first passport took over 6 months… my passport renewal (ages ago) took just over 2 weeks, the last visa for my wife took 10 days. I was stunned when they contacted me, was sure it was returned early because I’d made some mistake and it was declined. But no.

wow :thumb:
My new US passport, done via mail in Thailand, took total 41 days from 1st submission to receiving it
I’m jealous. US passport renewal took several months for me.

Maybe passport renewals favors overseas renewals versus ones done in the US?

Or maybe they prioritize people they deem fit to travel. My current passport took about two weeks.

Passport renewals always have favored those issued overseas PLUS we always got a 50+ page book

when?
i recall back when the embassy did outreach to Phuket, a new pp was about 10-12 days
Most people i saw posting on Thai visa for new US book this past 6 months were 5-6 weeks

anyway, good chance this is my last one, i love all the extra security shit on it :-) :beer3:

My update.

After a few emails, and threats of getting my MP involved (whoever that is; probably a transgender vegan), I did not get a response but the payment has been taken out successfully.

So now I have to wait a few months!

I’m guessing that responses to complaints may offer or infer an admission of liability, and that authority to admit to anything is probably increasingly tightly restricted. But if the monies have been taken, you should be able to expect service consistent with that of other applicants. Christmas parties, though, probably being the culturally oppressed member in the woodpile.

Bets on week4, 2024?

Yes, no doubt they have quotas and it's probably someones job (WFH) to monitor these enquires, especially if someone mentions "MP", which the guidence on the HMPO says to contact if you get no or you are not satisfied with the response.

The paperwork says 18 weeks but to be honest I am just happy I got the application in as my wife has been going on about it for years. It's as if she is expecting me to keel over at any time, which is entirely possible of course. Bathroom tiles are lethal. (so are knives)

I don't think we will have any need to use it in the foreseeable future and if we do travel it'll be either Thailand or Singapore (my wife refuses to go to Vietnam. Silly bint). It is only for my kids future and getting it done now is one thing off the list.

Next is her EU passport!
