"but some will begrudgingly open an account for you if you can convincingly and absolutely prove you havent got any money. to do this irrevocably convincingly you need to show a cambodian work permit."

Yep, a lot of banks refused to allow me to open an account for my US govt. Dept. of Treasury Social Security checks until I had a work permit. They found it impossible to understand that RETIREMENT meant not working.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Would also recommend ABA. Have 3 accounts there for more than 2 years, all in USD, never had any problems with opening or transfers or anything. Only had to show my passport to open my accounts.
If you would make large transfers they will ask you for proof of where the funds came from but a couple of mails with the office manager was enough to establish I wasn't doing anything illegal so no worries. Their phone apps and internet banking also all work very well.
They're not cheap though, they take 0.1% of every incoming transfer, and then you still have the intermediate bank cost and exchange difference (depending on where you transfer from).
just noise, white noise

I know what an aspara is thank you very much. That still doesn't mean your reply makes much sense. You're over 60, have to buy second hand clothes and got denied entry in Thailand because you didn't have any cash on you, maybe you should make an account on khmer440 instead of cluttering up the forum posts here.

Reading your past replies on forum posts here I agree with you that you are stupid. Let's compare degrees shall we. It's not because I'm half your age I have half of your experience. Make sure you carry enough money on you so you don't get denied entry into Thailand again please 🤞

Sorry, might have been a bit tipsy when I replied to your reply that didn't have anything to do with the topic of this post. Didn't mean to be rude! My apologies!
