LOL, I was on Pontoon the night it sunk. It was surreal. We all kept drinking until the water got just above ankle high and then they stared to kick us off.willyhilly wrote:Pattaya was a fishing village originally. This is spot on. Pharmacies stock more narcotics today than they did decades ago. In particular high grade cannabis in the form of buds, hash and oil is being imported from places like Amsterdam then openly sold left and right. Mom and pop pharmacies are selling Adderal and Ritalin. Duhh, it's the 21st century. That surely ought to deter yuppies and grass tourists!
Be careful to become a know-it-all old timer without an updated clue of local changes. The time is over for grandpa to get his pecker licked in a bar. Step aside for the new generation, folks. Walkabout died because you're dying.

I assume people have taken them and confirmed they aren't counterfeit? Just wondering how they get their supplies when the main place ..the one near Olympic market doesn't have them, and the French one up near St 108 doesn't have them.fax wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 9:33 amThis is spot on. Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

What’s the current amount of most likes on an OP? 11 ain’t bad at all!chkwoot wrote: ↑Sun May 06, 2018 8:10 am Cannabistourist (and all newbies to Cambodia),
You are at least 10 years too late to do most of the things that you seem to believe are now possible. Long gone are the days when you could get a 1 year "business visa" extension of your "ordinary visa" within a few days after arriving, without any extra documents; work without a work permit and without worry of being deported or fined; buy a $160 used Citi without any papers and a fake license plate without any worries whatsoever; smoke weed (or even meth) in the patio area (or "bathroom") of Walkabout 24/7 without anyone batting an eye (Glenn would get pissed off if he saw someone smoking meth, but he never went into that shitty bathroom); buy absolutely any kind of pharmaceuticals at pharmacies; drive your moto without a helmet or mirrors or valid license of any kind; out run/out maneuver cops when they tried to shake you down for just a buck or two of beer money; get a bj at Sophie's for $1 while drinking $1 cans of Asahi Super Dry(350ml!) that come with a free condom; or enjoy a quiet, relaxing evening, chatting and drinking with others, while listening to jazz in an almost empty, floating Pontoon. I know because I've done, or have personally witnessed, everything I mentioned. (I hope others will add to the list.)
I think maybe the new generation of "extreme tourists" are looking at extremely dated information regarding Cambodia. Some things haven't changed, but many things have. You will (hopefully) see the truth when you are able to experience this reality IN REAL LIFE, not vicariously through someone else's eyes. Your experience will not be the same as anyone else's, so put down your mobile device, MacBook, or Lonely Planet, and go experience life. Learn about your own reality from your own real life observations and interactions.
I found this long forgotten (I'm old) quote in 2012, on the inside back cover of some now defunct shitty Sihanoukville fake Pocket Guide. They even stupidly edited the quote. But here it is unedited:
"Aryans" are not Hitler's wunderkinder. "Christians" are just westerners. "Hustle" does not mean to scam. Just Google Rudyard Kipling The Naulahka if you need someone else to help you understand. It was written 125 years ago, and is probably not taught in most elementary, middle, or even high schools anymore (at least not in the US).
Good luck to you! You might learn to absolutely hate everything about Cambodia, and us who live here. You might not. You'll know when you've spent enough time here to know, and only you will know when that is.
I actually don't give a flying fuck, furthermore nice to meet you all here!

Re: Open letter to newbies (especially Cannabistourist)
I remember the first time I went to Cambodia - about 20 years ago - there were really cheap hostels by the lakeside and you could buy weed right at the hostel. The hostel I was at was owned by a cop and he was selling weed. You could get a whore all night for $5. They used rigged tuna cans as French Press for coffee. I just loved it. It seemed like paradise.
I went back 2013 and it had all changed. It was really hard to find weed and the whores wanted $20 per night and extra for anal!
I think Cambodia is still a good deal though and I'm definitely considering it as part of my retirement plan. If I can find a job making net-net $30,000per year plus a housing allowance, I'll go there for the 2019/2020 school year.

ONLY MONKEYS THINK THAT I AM NOT LIVING IN CAMBODIA BECAUSE I USE VPNs and PROXIES.
Sorry but I do not reply to idiots, especially the old ones.

I visited the old lakeside backpacker area 3 times in 2014-5 at the invitation of a teacher who was living in an abandoned guesthouse there. On each occasion, I was fronted by multiple dealers offering dope for sale, as well as ice, heroin and MDMA. A corner shop had bags of dope openly displayed for sale behind the counter.
Haven't been near the sleaze pit since the current crackdown began. The teacher was removed, as he couldn't handle reality and the responsibility required for the job. Hardly a co-incidence.

ICBS on this one - Ritalin is a banned substance in the Kingdom as ADHD and ADD are not recognised conditions here. Which mom and pop pharmacies are selling this?
Bodge: This ain't Kansas, and the neighbours ate Toto!
