Hi,
Update to passport application:
No progress to date. I’ve now involved my U.K. member of parliament who contacted the passport office In London and informs me that overseas applications now take between 3 and 6 months to complete. All the relevant documents have been received but it’s a waiting game for the slow wheels of U.K. bureaucracy to turn!

Maybe by Christmas….?

We applied a few weeks ago. I had to have a friend assist as I’ve headed overseas. Looking at the receipt form from VFS, the girl in charge of the Biro failed to tick most of the boxes regarding submitted documents. Hopefully, whoever is reviewing the material will be able to piece it all together.

I know somebody who has lived in the UK for over 10 years, and applied for their 1st British passport back in April 2022, still waiting for the passport now

New passports are taking a very long time

I renewed my passport in just 14 days in June 2022 though

SUCCESS !!!
New passport arrived in Phnom Penh yesterday. Yippee!
March 17th to September 5th. What an efficient service our passport office provides especially as they are still complaining of lack of staff due to Covid !

For anyone planning a submission, I was told by VFS in Bangkok when I put my application in 4 weeks ago that the current waiting time is 11 weeks. Efficient at taking the fee from my account though, that only took 5 days. :D
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

VFS
The first and only update on this, received today, is that no supporting documents have been received by the UK passport office. Close to 4 months for them to notice.

Congratulations!

May I ask, did VFS call you or email you to advise of the arrival of your passport?

I know someone who got theirs back in under 6 weeks recently, so I am eternally hopeful of getting mine back this month.

If you are eternally hopeful, doesn't that mean you expect to never get it?
