Of Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and Malaysia, all countries in the teeth of this Omicron wave, Cambodia has the highest % of Omicron amongst those tested and sequenced. Yet it has the lowest numbers of infections by far. We all know the truth of the matter. As long as the government can hold its nerve for a month or so, we will get through this without pointless lockdowns or business closures.

Everyone I known who has it / known who has had it just tested themselves at home using home kits without involving the authorities at all. When the test returns a positive result, they'll usually take another one just to be sure, and when that is also positive, they simply stay at home and self isolate, regardless of what type of accommodation they live in.

I'm quite sure that it's now got to the stage where medical authorities only become aware / involved in covid cases if some sort of hospitalisation is needed. Other than that, there is no record of it.

OP is asking for PCR test to flying out of the country. You need official test done.

I'm definitely wrong then. I know of at least 30+ people who have had it in the last 4-6 months. Small local business owners just put a sign and say "closed for a while" but when asking them why on Telegram, they say they tested positive. Same for co-workers and all that. I understand the need for tracking at the onset when trying to contain it all, but it's a bit ridiculous to try and keep tabs on everything now, given the vaccination rate and all that. It's everywhere and just have to live with it at this point. Everyone I know, locals and expats, just test themselves and stay at home if positive. I don't see the reason, besides just keeping track of stats (but we all know those have always just been very rough estimates anyways). Maybe just so the Sangkat or Kahn are aware of any increases?

OP is asking for PCR test to flying out of the country. You need official test done.

Exactly. When you get a pre-flight test at one of the official testing locations, if you test positive they are obliged to report it to the incompetent authorities.

I think the authorities are getting a bit embarrassed by the official figures which are obviously hopelessly inaccurate. The world can see that they have given up any reasonable test and report system, if only for statistical purposes. If everyone who self tested positive were to report it, their phones would never stop ringing and by the time the got to everyone they would all be clear of the virus.

Cambodia has the highest Omicron ratio of positive tests of it's neighbours, but the lowest cases per million. It's looking a bit silly now...
