Need help regarding a card game

Post by bvanfossen »

Hi all,

My girlfriend and her friends /family play a card game I can't figure out. I'd like to read the rules but they don't know the name of the game for me to look it up.

They bet on it and make small pairs. Red cards especially hearts seem to be the good cards.

Any ideas of the name? Thank you

I've never been able to understand the rules of play. I think it's Tien Len, but most people just seem to call it "bier" (cards).

It similar to the game I played as a kid called “assholes and presidents” except the points depend on the card suit you have left with red being more expensive.

I cleaned up one year in the province, so much so, I was not allowed to play for the rest of the holiday.

Is it like "Niggers and Presidents", where the self-elected president throws the deck of cards and the other gets the pleasure of picking them up?

I'm not making this up, that was a thing when I grew up.
