I need to buy a CDMA compatible phone in Siem Reap
I need to buy a CDMA compatible phone in Siem Reap
Hi, All.
I need to purchase a CDMA cell phone. Mine was stolen. I would like to replace it with one which will work with the Sprint network when I get back to the states.
I am in Siem Reap. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

There are lots of phone shops up on route 6 starting just across the bridge as you enter the Wat Bo area. Thats where my wife heads to get phones/repairs etc.
I can't speak to your question about CDMA.

The only CDMA network here shut down years ago, so it's highly unlikely anyone will be selling CDMA handsets.

Most of the world uses GSM network (USA and Russia being the expectation where CDMA is still heavily used) So you would need a phone compatible with GSM too. Usually, an iPhone is your easiest choice as they usually have a CDMA and GSM compatibility.

Yeah I think you need to see if Sprint is using LTE/4G where you'll be using your phone in the US. CDMA is ancient tech. GSM is 2G and even older.

Excellent hints. Thanks everyone. I decided to steal my daughter's phone (which works in the US) and purchase a local phone for her.
My English challenged tour guide did not know about CDMA, and even the phone guy didn't.
Thanks again, everyone.

As long as your daughter’s phone worked on the Sprint Network before, you’ll be fine. Different CDMA network phones are not compatible with each other. And Sprint will be turning off CDMA by 2022. Other carriers, even sooner.
