Moving and starting business w/criminal record

Post by virrevapp »

Hey there.

Postes this another place as well, but seems to me more here.
Me and my younger brother have decided start a new life abroad. Ive travelled a lot and cambodia impressed me. Loved it there. I have some unfinished things here in Norway, so 2020/21 is when we will leave.

The thing is, we both have been fined once for smoking weed. Mine was back in 2004, him, maybe 5 years ago.

I have searched around but everything looks so vague. Like "in some cases you might need to proof that you have no criminal record." I might be just horrible with search engines.

So Ihope someone here maybe can come with an input. Is there no point of planning for a move to Cambodia with criminal record? It would be sad if so is the case as it looks like we could get something nice within out budget.

A fine for smoking weed in 2004 won't even show on your record, unless you ask for an extended record. Even if the Cambodian government would ask for it, you could just ask for a regular record and they wouldn't know the difference.

Norway is pretty strict about releasing extended criminal records.

2020 / 2021 is a long way away for some people, I would be more concerned about the criminal activity that is committed in the now and near future. Like are you planning on overthrowing the goverment in Norway, or have you downloaded terrorist activities, like how to fly drones, on you computer . Be careful cause this government has a good working relationship with Mr Google.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Thats true. There is no problem with staying away from criminal activities for the next years as smoking was the only illegal activity except for a speeding ticket and I dont smoke anymore.

Love this forum. Thumbs up 😃

True. Wouldnt be a problem even if I had to document. It was only for entry to US that I needed an extented criminal record. So then its not much to worry about. Time to plan
