Never been to Vietnam.
Which cities or towns are recommended?
I'm fixed income so don't want monthly rent of say, $1000.

Many of the budget minded expats from Sihanoukville have relocated to Vung Tau in Vietnam, on the coast not too far from Saigon.

Better and cheaper rentals than SHV and cheaper beer and food apparently.
