I guess you put your seatbelt around your neck to derfy "The Man"?
Seatbelts actually work. Masks don't, even the expensive N95 masks didn't do FCK all to stop the spread.

People that wear masks against covid outside or in their own car are **tarted...

I would suggest to read that article or watch that video from John Campbell. Or stay in your "I'm scared bubble" and live your life in fear ImageImage

(It's okay to admit that your "masking" side was wrong.)

Folks still wearing masks (when healthy) remind me of those guys who wear a paper bag on their own head during sex, just in case their fugly date's paper bag splits! #ShesATwoBagger

I wear a mask where I see a noticeable amount of locals do the same. I know it doesn't help much but life isn't all about who knows best. Sometimes it's clever to just go with the flow. Other times not, but it doesn't hurt anyone to put your mask on for a bit.

Change will happen faster if you tell people they are wrong (in a calm way that might spark something in their own mind) instead of following in line like a lemming.

I was at floatation a few weeks ago. This is a restaurant floating on the river at the east side of Koh Pitch. Two staff behind the bar where wearing masks and two others didn't (their age I would guess between 21-26).

I asked the two girls that had masks on if they were sick. Both said no. Than I asked if they had their vaccine and boosters. Both said yes. Then I asked why after the government lifted the mask mandates almost a year ago are you still wearing a 500r facemask that does absolutely nothing whilst you are outside on the river with a nice breeze being fully boosted.

It looked like something switched on in their brain. I ended it by telling them that maybe they should ask their colleagues why they are not wearing masks anymore.

Hopefully I converted two young girls off from the "masking cult" and they can finally show their smiles to the public again.

Don't be one of those people that become outsiders cause they can't conform to the simplest of local traditions or societal norms.

Before you know it you'll be spending time on some obscure forum creating thread after thread, post after post, trying to prove that you're smarter than everyone.

In the meantime "everyone" is just enjoying life together. Sometimes with a mask on, other times not, but always with better topics of conversation than you.

Who are you to decide what someone should or shouldn’t do? What business is it of yours? You think you “converted” anyone with your beliefs? You are part of the “cult”. What a clown you seem to be.

If only it were that simple.
I arrived in Cambodia in 2018. Barring a few random Japanese and Chinese tourists (mostly middle age women), masks were not a traditional piece of clothing for anyone.

News reports that have made it onto this forum every year since I registered, which suggest that covering an electrocution victim in sand is the best course of action (as far as many locals are concerned).

Meanwhile, I visited the bank recently, where the customer service bod was sat behind a Perspex screen, wearing a mask. Talking in muffled tones in the usual semi coherent style.
Sometimes, calmly, a bit of practical common sense needs to be injected into the process. This is where a lot of the push back has occurred since the entire debacle started.

I've lived in Cambodia over 14 years, prior to covid the only people that wore a mask were either sick or driving through traffic (against the dust/fumes). Nobody was wearing masks aside from those two reasons.

I can speak Khmer pretty well and when I speak with Khmer people I've met somewhere at random and some are wearing a mask, I'll do that whole spiel from my previous message and they normally take their mask of and we continue speaking about family, work, relationships and about politics, both local (silently) and globall =)

I like social interactions and with that come facial expressions, people that still wear a mask but are wrong about why they should still wear it, should be nudged into going back to how society was pre covid and show their smiles.

Obviously if people want to wear a mask because they love the mask so much, they should keep wearing them. I would guess that's not a big percentage of the population.

You think you know but unfortunately you don’t. I’m not as well traveled as most here, but I do know that locals is SE Asia have been wearing masks long before Covid ever struck. And for you to have the audacity to say they are wrong, well that’s just a cult personality. You should get over pushing your agenda onto other people where you are nothing more than a guest.

It's proven that people with ugly teeth and/or faces (or those who perceive themselves as such) are more likely to wear masks than conventionally good looking (or those who perceive themselves as such) people

https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10 ... 84941/full

So, dysmorphia and being ugly or lacking self confidence are all reasons why individuals may choose to wear a mask when it's not needed. Fuck em

While I agree that masks are unnecessary and pretty useless, people will wear them if they want to for various reasons. I often wear them on aircraft because the recycled air fucks my nose up. Also Cambodia is often a dusty fuck of a place so they are needed when walking or riding in dusty conditions
