Marrying a Cambodian girl in another country

Post by explorer »

From what I have read, and what I have been told, it seems when a Foreign man marries a Cambodian girl in Cambodia, it requires a lot of paperwork, which requires a lot of time.

So some men dont bother to get legally married, and as a result, their children may have to stay in Cambodia for the rest of their lives.

Would there be any problems if the man took the girl to his country and got married there?

Would there be any problems if they then came back to live in Cambodia?

Could they just get legally married at the embassy of his country?

Would there be any problems if the man is over 50?
## I thought I knew all the answers, but they changed all the questions. ##

Not true. Scholarships, decent degree (nursing/medicine/dentistry) NGO background

Granted it may be more difficult, but not impossible by any means.

MOTIVATION, that dirty 4-letter word

I didn't get married (I don't believe in marriage), and have a few kids with a Cambodian woman. My kids have citizenship of Cambodia and my home country.

Why do you think not getting married could impact on your potential kids travel options? That's absurd.

just cause a child is born to unwed parents does not mean the child can not have another citizenship.
most western countries grant citizenship to kids born to citizens of said country

Whenever you deal with the Cambodian government it either takes a lot of time or a lot of ****.

Really? That would be horrible. But is it really true? I have info stating the opposite.

Main problem would be the MoFA of Cambodia won't support you with any legal documents. If your government doesn't care, you can get married there. If you need certain documents form the MoFA, you're fucked.

No, the Cambodian government doesn't really know what happened abroad, do they?

Does that service even exist?

In Cambodia, yes. Abroad, maybe, depending on the documents needed.

Afaik the MoFA will no longer recognise foreign marriages, and the entire legal process must to be completed in order to have a locally recognised legal marriage to a Cambodian.

Men over 50 cannot avail themselves of this privilege here, with or without a foreign marriage certificate.

As long as the birth is registered and citizenship by descent is obtained, there is nothing preventing a child getting either a Cambodian or foreign passport and leaving the country.

You know there's a forum search function, right? Although if it's as flaky as the one on TOF you're better off using google with site:cambodiaexpatsonline.com marry

Hong Kong is the easiest option, here's how: http://walkjivefly.com/2017/02/getting- ... hong-kong/
