Landmines in and around Siem Reap?

Post by Jim Cottrell »

Hi, I am travelling to Siem Reap in August with my wife and 7 year old son. We are concerned about landmines and would be keen to hear from anyone living in the area of the risk that this poses, if any, and precautions that we should take. We will be visiting Angkor wat and other local temples, and travelling around Siem Reap itself (our hotel is there).

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Jim

Don't worry, Siem Reap, Ankor Wat and other temples are absolute safe.
There are people who cannot imagine that there are other ways of life than their own life.

Considering that millions of visitors come to Siem Reap and nobody has been blown up yet, you should be safe. All the areas in and around Siem Reap were cleared years ago. I have been running all around the countryside there and still have both my legs.

No landmines...

However, watch out for tigers, Australian orange salesmen and Khmer drivers.
