It is commonly found in regrowth hardwood hillsides all over the savannah country, ubiquitous I might say.
Arm yourself with a good botanical illustration and you will readily find it on nearly any hillside that charcoal burners frequent.

Thanks sidewalker. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be found in any online dictionary. I do know one Cambodian knew a "kru khmai" who nicknamed it "opium's pal". In point of fact its chemical reactions with the brain are similar and Cambodians believe it is non-addictive Not that it matters I am not interested in recreational use of it; I need a strong painkiller.

Common as nettles in Wales, chap.
Print this likeness and ask any charcoal burning peasant.

I have interrogated my household staff and they assert that any local witch doctor will know this plant.
Among four of them they gave me 5 different names, feckless wretches that they are.

:( Again, thanks for the efforts. Unfortunately, the local kru khmer died a few years back and was replaced by a run of the mill health clinic. My Cambodian is good enough to ferret it out on my own-just thought I'd have a shot at saving some time.

Yeah Sidewalker, it's a bitch. I could find the Thai and Vietnamese words, but not the Cambodian in spite of the praise of its quality.
