Kantha Bopha IV Childrens Hospital
My girlfriend is off to Kantha Bopha IV Childrens Hospital after her little 6 year old son broke his arm.
He is being transported up to PP from shv.
Any reviews or pearls of wisdom about the kids hospital?
I've heard good things about the place. What support is there for the parent if any?
I'm also a bit worried about what is going to happen over khmer new year.

Re: Kantha Bopha IV Childrens Hospital
Fuck me, that's a decent break.
Re: Kantha Bopha IV Childrens Hospital
Decent break alright!
Kantha Bopha provide free treatment for Cambodian kids, the missus has told me it is always full, 1 parent only is allowed to stay with the child and they only provide beds for the patients, so mothers either share the bed or sleep on a chair or floor, tell her to be careful with her valuables especially if she falls asleep, they are very strict on how many people they allow to visit to avoid the place been over crowded. I once went with the missus to visit a sick nephew but wasn't allowed to enter, got told "no foreigner, unless parent". They don't provide meals for patients either apparently, but there's plenty of food carts outside the hospital and restaurants nearby. Hope this helps.
By the way, I am not criticizing the hospital, they provide a great service to low income families with sick and injured children and should be commended...just don't expect western standards.

That picture makes me cringe more than any gory pics do! Damn.
Hope that gets sorted properly.

I know a rice farm family in Kampong Cham whose kid was quite ill at about 6 months. They brought him to KB and apparently they fixed him well. He's now a very energetic 20 month old. But i don't know what was wrong.

No worry if he can stay in KB, he's lucky. Many years ago( about 15years ago) my youngest brother had a problem with his leg bone. he was staying there, but now he can walk well. Even Khmer New Year is coming but they still work. Hope he get better soon.

Re: Kantha Bopha IV Childrens Hospital
Was about to say that cost of transport might upset KB saving for a simple broken arm but it looks like possible surgery and metal plate needed.
Not unlike my own arm fracture last year that ended costing 6k to repair + another 3k to remove plate...
However a 6 yo have a huge advantage over an old geezer like me when it comes to broken bones recovery.
As for KB I was in contact with its operational director (Denis Laurent if I recall correctly) when a Relative gave birth prematurely, they seem to know what they are doing.
All the best
