Kampot is nice but maybe a bit saturated, while Battambang is pleasant enough but too quiet. It may pick up with the trains running from PP to Poipet now even more so when they connect to Thailand in the next few months(?)

I said in this thread: the-road/battambang-tourist-destination-t17866.html the riverside there is a wasted opportunity at the moment but could be lovely with some decent bars and restaurants. So maybe now would be a good time to get in early and take advantage of an opportunity? If you think there is one, that is.

Bat cher will have a limited future for expats, as opposed to Kampot which has no future at all.

Battambang is lovely, Christians aside, I sure hope it doesn't get ruined by people jumping ship from Kampot.
