It's usually yellow because an animal peed in it.

Saying I used to hear in Alaska, I believe it may be from a rock song.

"Don't go where the huskies go, don't eat the yellow snow."

Up in Nome, people would put their dog(s) out front of their house tied to some old/dead equipment like a rusting snow machine all winter. They would sh*t in one spot all winter and it would freeze right away. When everything thawed around May, there would a big pile nasty stuff all in one spot. Forget the yellow snow, this was far and above more disgusting.

Interesting word I got the other day from friends in Nome is that the Russians bought the big gold company there that has the mining leases on the tundra and brought in monster equipment and are taking gold out as fast as they can. They dig down 80 feet in the frozen permafrost ground so the equipment must be monsters. You don't see this on those stupid reality shows on TV where idiots take banged together unsafe water craft out and try to suck up flakes of gold. They are after the crumbs, while the Russian off camera are going for the real gold.

Zappa was a brilliant, under-rated guitarist, unfortunately you can't hear it on most of his albums.

The best album for guitar work is Shut Up and Play Your Guitar, echoes of Jeff Beck in places:

Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)
