Go to New York in Jan/Feb. Colder than a mofuk. (Lived in the Northeast for 7 years.) Dr. Ron Paul now has a video out on the fall of the US dollar and the coming upheaval in America. Home sweet home for me ---- but no economy at all and #$$% freezing 6 months a year

Still, these photos just made me homesick for the first time in a long time.

Hey guys, why not make a thread (My favorite places in the state).To be honest, i would be so happy to see the pictures you guys took when you have been to any of your favorite places in the state rather than searching on Internet. Yes i actually want to see the state one day in the future, but i don't think that will be happening for me as i have khmer passport and this make it close to impossible for me even though i have enough money to visit.

Samouth, here's just a couple of pictures from the western states I took on a 12,000 km trip. Moab Utah is one of my favorite places to be, but not during tourist season though.






This is the road to my home during rush hour. If you ever wonder why a lot of Westerners can enjoy the roads, it's because there's space to breathe and simply enjoy.



10 minutes from home. Lots and lots of nothing around there, but perfect for really enjoying a motorcycle.

Also, I know it's interesting to look at and such, but to be honest, after living in the U.S. for quite some time (as an Asian), I am really considering moving back to Asia and leaving the U.S. for good, I've had enough of it.

Thank so much AE86 for sharing such beautiful pictures. BTW is the place the landmark of Utah state? I have got a big map of US in which i was given by the US embassy here in Phnom Penh. It has the picture of that place on the state of Utah in the map. I wonder if it is a landmark or just a tourism place in that particular state.

You are right. I actually never understand how westerners enjoy being on the road in their countries, As i have never been there. To be honest i have seen some roads in the movies and on internet, but it is not really like something you personally experienced. After reading your response i got a feeling that many expats here are daredevil as they dared to live in a country where the traffic is utterly terrible and yes they can be killed in every minute being on the road in Cambodia. I am so scared when it comes to driving anywhere in Cambodia. Almost all Cambodian drivers are crazy. As i read local news, every day there were so many fatally traffic accidents in which frightened me so badly to get on the road. I was told that some European countries also have small roads for example in London, however they control their traffic much better than us moreover they have better public transportation.

I don't know why you want to leave the state and come to live in Asian countries, as personally i believe that there are so many good things down there which you can't find in Asian countries ( i might be wrong). I knew a few khmericans. Most of them are really enjoy living in the state. They said there is no chance they want to come back to live in Cambodia. They found themselves not to be able to adopt living in Cambodia for so many reasons. However, it is good for you to come back to live in your parents home country to learn about its people and culture.

For many Cambodia isn't right. Many depend on the luxuries and surety that comes from living in a country where when a traffic light turns red you can be 99% sure oncoming traffic will stop at it. And where when a crosswalk sign lights up you can be mostly sure its safe to cross.

Where hot water is the normal, not the exception... as is air conditioning when it's hot. Where supermarkets will always have about the exact same stock as they had last week and you can plan on it. Where power outages are rare and almost always caused by weather instead of a lack of energy supply or infrastructure. Where customer service, for the most part, means trying to actually help the customer solve a problem... not just repeating a script.

That said, it all comes with its costs. For example, the red traffic light... if something happens and you go through one you're almost certainly going to have to pay a hefty fine, or you may kill someone because nobody expects that to happen and so they don't look before going forward with their green light. The supermarkets always have the same food, but as a result a large amount of food gets thrown away when it expires because they overstocked. Power outages are rare, but you depend on electricity so much that when they happen... like from an ice storm in the middle of winter where the temperature is -5C... you're not prepared to cope with the situation and find yourself sleeping in a hotel room (which is much more expensive there than in Cambodia).

And so on...
