International Call
International Call
Can someone help me with a place I'd be able to make an international call (to my bank in the UK) that won't be too expensive? Years ago I knew half a dozen places near 172/riverside that had a phone you could use but they all cease to exist now. I've tried twice on two local sims and it's just an awful line, I can't hear a thing then get cut off after 5-10 minutes after topping up with $10 credit... frustrating to say the least. Skype is not an option for me. A local girl recommended the post office, what do you think?
Thanks.
Thanks.

sometimes i do get a bad connection like way back when (1850's), but a redial does the trick.
Other voip include wechat whatsapp line viber telegram etc etc etc.
All work well cheapest rates.
Good luck.
Re: International Call
Thanks Mish - I don't have a smart phone right now to try those latter options however, but you're not sure on a place I could use a landline for a lot less per minute than the obscene >$1 per min via smart I'm getting charged right now? I've spent around $25 in phone credit and it's eaten up so quickly that I've barely been put through to speak to a rep after inputting my details... it's driving me mad.Mishmash wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 9:00 pm I use cellcard and use the voip option by prefixing 177.

Re: International Call
I am lost here. Smart do not charge $1 a minute. I use Metfone. You do not need a prefix. Just buy a sim card at metfone for $1, top it up. It is supposed tobe $0.07c per minute to uk. In reality, and i cannot tell you why, it costs less than that. 30 minutes to my uk bank only took $1.50 from my balanceLIVIDZX wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 10:03 pmThanks Mish - I don't have a smart phone right now to try those latter options however, but you're not sure on a place I could use a landline for a lot less per minute than the obscene >$1 per min via smart I'm getting charged right now? Re: International Call
Metfone is 15c per min unless prefixed with 168, then is either 3c per min or 4c per min depending if you pay the monthly 10c feepczz wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 4:00 amI am lost here. Re: International Call
I would suggest you borrow a phone from a friend.
I, like others, use cellcard.
I pay pennies a minute to call bumfuck, USA where I am from. Crystal clear and cheap.
Find someone who you can pay back the small amount and make your calls.
When my mother was dying last year I was able to call hospitals, hospice and friends for next to nothing.

Re: International Call
Agree with everyone. The VOIP prefixes from the providers here are as cheap as a pack of Corona Noodles.
Borrow a good cell phone (even go a buy an old beat up nokia pre-smartphone for 5$), stick in a sim 2$, charge it $5 and jaw away to the bank for 2 hrs 45 mins...
Here is Metfone deal

No it is not. that is out of date byb at least 12 months. Go to metfone office and ask. no prefix is needed anymorecautious colin wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 8:44 amMetfone is 15c per min unless prefixed with 168, then is either 3c per min or 4c per min depending if you pay the monthly 10c feepczz wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 4:00 amI am lost here.
