How to seal walls to keep rain water from seeping to the flat

Post by ArttuK »

I live in a very affordable place in Orussey. My land lord has given me free range to improve the place to my liking. I've been planning to start by stopping the water seeping to the flat, and paint the walls white again.

Is there a way to block the water coming to the flat through the ceiling and wall with just adding something to the surface? Is this something that can be done with like a can of sealant and then paint, or is it a big project that is out of my reach? All the info on the internet is for condensation water. This is not condensation. The water comes from upstairs bathroom and more during rainy season when the rain water is added to it.

I'm not a handyman. I take photos for a living, so I need advice on a "for dummies"-level.

Aquella,,, I have used this product with great success. Dont know where you can find it in Cambodia. I believe it was used a lot in cases where they could not get to the other side of the concrete where the water was,, like in tunnels. It's a white powder , mixed with water and painted on the wet concrete .

Aquella sounds like a product made exactly to my needs. I have to start asking around if I can see it somewhere. Is there general construction material shops around the city?

Note ,,, All paint must be removed and surface ground or sanded back to bare concrete for it to be applied.

Can you access the roof? It's not really advisable to seal the inside of the wall, the leak will probably just spread through the wall or cause the plaster to fall off.
I bought a couple of cans of bitumen type sealer by Psah Chas yesterday (st 110), but used it to seal part of the roof, it was about $6 a liter.

But quite often it is water that comes from poor tiling in a shower or toilet in the property next door seeping through the walls.

Bingham is right you don't seal walls to fix a leak but fix the actual leak instead.

Water will only show up somewhere else.

Yes you are right but,,, Have you ever tried to talk to the neighbors and tell them the water from their toilet and shower is seeping through the wall into your apartment,, and they should renew all the tiles ?
