HDMI Problems

Post by Sailorman »

Recently I bought a small (10 in) ASUS Computer in the US just for movies, music and for hooking to my TV.(Windows8) The HDMI port has stopped working. Its not in the programing as I had an expert in the US remotely look at all the programing and software.

Can the HDMI plug be replaced and does anyone know of a place in Sihanoukville that can do this?

Try a new cable first. The cheap HDMI cables don't always last long. Quality HDMI cables are ridiculously expensive.

Here is where some asshat posts that his HDMI cable cost $0.07 and it's lasted 15 years already.

I picked up a really cheap cable near the Central Market for about 7 cents. I've been using it for almost 15 years now with no problems.

Try a new HDMI cable. If that doesn't work, I'd guess your connection from the HDMI housing to the motherboard is broken. This can be fixed in 10 minutes with a bead of solder.

Sailorman, this occasionally works on other equipment - physically pull the power plug on your television from the wall for 10 minutes, disconnect the HDMI cable too. Plug the HDMI back in and restart your TV.

Thanks all for the suggestions. Have tried everything stated before posting. I bought a new cable. I have another computer and both cables work on my other computer/TV. The TV works with other computer. I even tried the trick Stroppy said and nothing.

It was a long shot but does clear a particular communication problem.

Have you got someone who can take the jacket off your PC and check the HDMI port is seated correctly?
