Friend arrested in kampot

Kampot, Cambodia News: A 33 year old Norwegian man, THOMAS KRISTIANSEN , was arrested on May 3, 2019, at 10:45 am, for cheating, damaging people’s property, and overstaying his Cambodian visa for 37 days.

G/f paid guesthouse bill on 15 May

G/f said she was off home om 26 May.

On todays date he should be 61 days overstay so you need to find out if they are going to charge him with property damage and if not negotiate a fee to be paid to secure his release. $610 plus at this time.

They add his prisontime to the overstay? That seems unfair. How can he leav or get money when he is in prison? This is she by the way. The ex girlfriend. We are finding it very hard to get any information about him at all.

Phew.. That at least is a relief. From what I heard prison in kampot is not so bad, but I read about prey sa and found I whould not wish it in my worst enemy.

Wasn't he arrested for damaging property? He can serve prison for he overstay but it's normally settled with a fine. The police would let him call home for money, does he know your phone numbers?

The property damage was paid for. He just knocked over a fan. The hostel promised to drop the charges when paid and I paid for that. All thats left is the overstay.

@ OP or ex-girlfriend. If I remember rightly, someone has posted on here about visiting someone who was locked up in the immigration centre by the airport. They might be able to help you with some tips if you want to go and check out if your boyfriend is there. I don't remember who it was, so up to them to contact you I guess.
Sorry not to be more helpful. Maybe someone here has the phone number for the Immigration Dept ? Get a Khmer speaker to phone them for you, at least to find out where he is being held.

Good question. The receit was kinda hard to interpret and I never added up the number. It says 10 dollars but it also says I paid for 10 fans. I never checked if it was just messy written or what I paid for, I don't really care about the bill to be honest. I just wantrd to settle my business. So the short answer whould be whatever they may have asked for.
