Sathapana Bank is free for Visa, but I have been told it has a low maximum withdrawal. I no longer have a Visa debit cards so can't confirm either the limit or if it's still free.

Low max withdrawal no good

Can't hurt to try the free Sathapana ATM and find out what the limit is then...

Ya think ? If thier limit is 200$ and I pay my bank $5 , I would rather do 1 time $9 / $1000 at ABA and it’s a good ( expensive) bank to trust .. I never heard of sathapana but if you use it they must give an amount of quick cash withdrawal which $1000 probly ain’t included

Why do you pay your bank? Find a better bank. Anyway it should tell you how much the ATM fee is before you get that far, so you can find out what the max is by starting at $1000 and working your way down.

I can’t change my bank , my direct deposit goes there and they don’t have any email address or way to ask them any questions ,
It sucks but that’s the way it is , $5 per withdrawal at my amer bank . The less here with max limit is most preferred , I expect somebody living there would know ... I don’t like traffic

Not exactly true as I have been using their ATMs right up until 19 July - less than six weeks ago.

But yes I saw the giant Visa stickers on the ATM vestibule on Monivong today and a staff member confirmed they don't take Mastercard any more.

I used the ATM at Vattanac Bank on the corner of Norodom/200 instead, and it's still only $4. Hope to find a free one so I will shop around sometime.

I am
Still looking for the highest maximum out in one pop ...
I have local ABA account and know I can get 1000 for $9 on my international card

And free anywhere is still costing me $5 from home so I’m not taking out less than 1000$ at a pop ..
How much chicken feed are you guys checking out ? Canadia bank used to only give $800 before they started even charging ages ago .
Don’t know what they charge now . But the maximum is not even $500 ... that’s insulting !

Saw this on another forum:
This is what we do in Asia....

Open a Citi everyday account here in Aus
Whack cash in it.

Take debit card and passport into bank branch where we are.
Do cash advance against debit card (TT)
Handover passport and sign copies of transaction
Get given cash and passport back

No ATM fees
Good exchange rate
No fees from Citi at all

We mainly do this in Thailand withdrawing 50k baht at a time.

Takes about 5 mins

Check rates on www.daytodaydata.net
Change to AUD and TT rates

Simple as
Does it apply similarly here?

No. It still works inThailand but the banks there have tightened up even there and I had trouble finding a bank in bangkok that would do it.
Here they charge you for the cash advance with a minimum fee. Haven't done it for a while but i think its 1% with $5 minimum but you can withdraw a higher amout and MAY dodge any fees your bank charges at home as it MAY appear as a card transcation (seems to vary depending on bank)
so $200 would still cost $5 minimum but $400 would cost $4. You can try and see. Its been about a year since i last tried in cambodia and probably 18 months in thailand. Works with some of the new online UK banks but Aussie and Us banks seem to be real arseholes with fees
