Experience of Going to Get Tested and Swabbing Positive

Post by JonnyBeeGee »

Hi all,

This is a hypothetical question.

Suppose someone (or all people) in your household had any number of Covid 19 symptoms and you lived in an apartment building with about 10 other apartments.

Let's say, in order to settle the question of whether you all had Covid 19 (or just a flu / wicked long lasting cold), you decided to go get tested at Khmer Soviet Hospital...

What happens then?

Can an expat with possible Covid 19 just rock into Khmer Soviet and get tested?

Then...if you swab positive, and have mild symptoms...what mechanisms are set in motion?

Are you whisked off to the Covid 19 ward, never to be heard from for 14 days?

Or are you allowed to go home, get your things, air five your kids and wife, and then have to report somewhere?

Or do police, medical team, and soldiers immediately set up shop and bivouac outside your apartment and force all your horrified (and pissed off) neighbors to come down, get tested, and then stay inside for 14 days?

I'm looking for answers based on experience, either first or second hand.

Thank you all.

Do the responsible thing and go get tested dude. The faster you do so, the faster we can end this whole thing. They announced that mild cases would be sent at home as they don't have enough beds to hold everyone (including mild/asymptomatic cases). Also some info as to where/when to go if symptoms worsen.

The most likely outcome would be the apartment building being cordoned off, but that won't make any difference to anyone given the current lockdown situation. So your neighbours won't hate you... They also now have rapid (30 min) tests. Not sure if they'd use them on a walk-in, but something to consider. They do let you take possessions/clothing in the unlikely event that they send you to a positive case center. But yeah, stop thinking about possible ramifications and get tested. Aren't you curious? I suppose another option would be to stay at home for two full weeks... Which you're already doing I presume. But we've seen cases deteriorate very quickly.

Hypothetically...the last option would seem to be the best one. And in such a hypothetical case, that would seem to be what a man is doing.

So another question...how does a person get permission to go get tested? Do they have to go the Sangkhat first?

Sounds like you are doing everything required of a person in this situation.

Stay home, get well soon. I sincerely doubt that, should you pop positive at a clinic, that you'd go to anywhere but a "health Centre" for quarantine for two to three weeks.

No clue. You can probably just tell them Khmer-Soviet hospital/Peet Russie and they'll let you through. Just to be clear, I'm not lambasting you. I'd be asking myself some hard questions as well if I were in the same situation (which I'm pretty sure I was in early 2020). If you're under 40 and in good health, you could always self-isolate and wait it out. Jut go to the hospital at the first sign of symptoms worsening (keep in mind ambulances take like an hour to get someone, and unlikely any passapp will take you). If you want peace of mind, just go get tested and find out today. Not many westerners have tested positive (like 3?), so unlikely you'll get any first-hand experience comments.

Also thanks JA.
