Thanks for the replies chaps!

Official price for 12 month extension of stay is $170... That's what I paid for my most recent one :thumb:

How did you manage to do that?
Always "hope" but never "expect".

I was told you now also have to show your marriage certificate also. Luckily we have one so we'll try again on Monday. But if you don't have one the lady at immigration made it sound like your kid won't be issued an exit visa.
Also on the corrupt money stealing part....she said an exit visa for an infant 0-3 months is $30....over 3 months is $50 plus a letter.
I have to type out an apology letter because I didn't get an exit visa before 3 months old. I said I didn't leave Cambodia until now that he's 8 months old. Doesn't matter. Just another back asswards day here.

Also she said most babies won't get an exit visa without an approval letter from MOFA but that doesn't apply for US passports so not a problem for me.

Load of BS you've been fed!

Are both parents foreigners? If so then you do need to apply for a visa for the child within 3 (?) mths of their birth via the Immigration Dept. This is a fairly recent requirement of which the details are extremely vague.

Nope
Mom is Khmer.
They have a new list of 10 things you need posted on the wall now including the ones I mentioned.

I know its all a con job for cash. When the lady working at the desk is wearing more gold than Mr. T you know something just ain't right.

Hi I was wondering what happens if we don't have a marriage certificate Since me and my fiancé are only engaged? Because we tried to get my daughter exit visa and they gave us a list of thing they needed. We have everything except the marriage certificate. Will they need proof of engagement? Sorry to ask but I'm a little worried now and I wasn't there to try to get the visa and only my fiancé was.

Your marital status is irrelevant. You need the child's birth certificate showing the names of both parents.

Since the kid is Cambodian, then you should just get a Cambodian passport for him/her, exit & enter the country on that and then no need for an Exit visa or a K-type visa upon return.

Exactly, sounds like Immigration are just making shit up to try and extract extra tea money.

A lot of foreigner-Cambodian parents also have trouble obtaining their children's birth certs from their Sangkat because they're not legally married...but again, marital status is totally irrelevant as clearly stated in the relevant Prakas.

Another difference from the original post...I picked up my sons passport with his exit visa today. Exit visas are no longer valid for 2 weeks. They are only good for 1 week. My boys visa issue date is June 26 and expiry date is July 2. Luckily our flight is before that.

We visit the US a couple times each year..cheaper and easier to get a US passport than deal with US visas and interviews each time ...but yes we will be getting a Cambodia passport for him too so he can enter Vietnam without a visa
