Hi guys, have a blocked ear, from water, not wax. Tried all home remedies but need to see a specialist. Any recommendations please ( not Raffles clinic). Appreciate it.

This throws up a couple of suggestions (one at Raffles though).

I use Dr Julie Thongsavanne at Procare for general GP stuff, and she knows who is who in this town when it comes to referrals. If you haven't got a regular GP, this might be a good start.

The one @ Raffles is recommended (doc Harissa), German trained. Bit chaotic though.

If you're smart you take a hearing test before seeing the doc. If you don't, they will send you for one to determine where (how deep) the problem sits in your ear (assuming the ear is not completely deaf).

The one at Raffles once told me the only other ENT specialist in Phnom Penh is at Royal Phnom Penh.

Alternatively you could try the antibiotic Bactrim Forte while deciding what to do. It's a common antibiotic for infections in the middle- and inner ear.

I have used this with success, available at your local pharmacy. If it's just water in the ear ask a surfer as it's a common problem they have.

I have had a good experience with the ENT department at Preah Ang Duong hospital on Norodom. Well equipped, clean, and fair prices.
