Electricity bill is higher than the months before
Electricity bill is higher than the months before
Hello, my last electricity bill is higher than the months before despite power failure and holidays. I was seven days in Kep so only refrigerator and freezer consumed electricity. The power failures in this accounting period took place daily from March 14th up to Sundays, so again about 50-60 hours.
My consumption last month 402 kwh in this month despite the cancellations and vacation 461kwh.
How can that be?

It shouldn't.bro.s'art wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 8:31 am Hello, my last electricity bill is higher than the months before despite power failure and holidays. I can only think of two explanations.
1. If you use an aircon / fridge it will switch off during powercuts, but has to make up for that when power is on, using more power at that time, so hardly any savings here. Using these continually is the cheapest in terms of power consumption.
2. During times when there is power, the voltage or amperage might be low, making your meter run faster.

when the voltage is very low the meters show erroneously high readings. EDC knows this.
Re: Electricity bill is higher than the months before
FLB, can you expand on this? I am not knowledgeable on voltage, amperage etc. I would have thought that the 'usage' would be the same when power was available and zero when it out not. Please advise / educate me...frank lee bent wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 10:37 am when the voltage is very low the meters show erroneously high readings. EDC knows this.

I can't really. There was a long winded explanation on FB about the loads needing more of the lower voltage to do the same work and causing a higher reading on the meter but I can't really prove it. Many many reports of bills doubling on FB though.

Thanks you mr Frank lee bent for the info.
Atleast someone knows a bit about current situation in KoW.

Low voltage can cause anything with a compressor to short cycle and operating it (ie the fridge) in this condition can consume 20-50% more energy and never reach the set cooling point.

Is this the answer
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
