Ecommerce in Cambodia? Possible?
Hi all.
I run a sole proporieter digital agaency in Australia.
I may be moving to Cambodia soon pending if my Cambodian Fiances Australian visa application is rejected.
My business relies heavily on online payments through gateways like Ecommerce payment gateways like Stripe.
But many of these platforms including PayPal are not supported in Cambodia.
Can anyone tell me a workaround for conducting ecommerce in Cambodia?
Thanks
Will.

Thanks Frank.
That platform doesn't appear to work with Woo-commerce. My preferred e-commerce software.

yeah and it is the best.
you will get used to it
there are many other barriers, wait and see.

Why do you need to receive payments in Cambodia? You could just receive it back home in Australia and wire the money to a Cambodian bank account.
If I were you I would not even consider registering my company here. Will be a pain in the ass, and your customers won't trust a Cambodian Company like an Australian one.

Well thats the 64,000 dollar question. What have others done when moving from Aus to Cambodia? Should I just keep operating my buinsess regitered in australia but from Cambodia? Is this legal in the eyes of the Khmer government? Is it legal in the eyes of the Australian government?
I know my questions are broad but forgive me. I'm just diving into this topic.

Keep your biz in oz. No way the khmer will know anything about it.

Of course it's legal you own a foreign company and you pay certain taxes overseas, that's not the problem. The only problem is you won't be entitled to a visa/long term stay in that case, but currently there are still workarounds for that.WillFaulkner wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 9:10 am Why do you need to receive payments in Cambodia? Come here for six months and scope it out. You might hate it.

Keep your business back home and fly to Cambodia. Get an ordinary visa on arrival and get a 6 months EG extension afterwards. it will give you 7 months in Cambodia to see if the situation is workable for you. Opening a bank account can be a pain in the ass, so bring some cash for the first weeks.
When in Phnom Penh request one hour at a major accountancy firm. Explain your specific situation to them and they will be able to tell you all the opportunities and and hoops you have to jump through in case you want to move your business. Might cost you some, but good advice is worth money in these cases. After that you have a few more months to decide.
In the mean time you continue you work here, have your income, but pay taxes back home. You will probably still benefit from the social system there as well.
