Dreaming of moving to Cambodia how do I make a habit

Post by Jphillip »

What's the best way to go about work and Cambodia is that is my only holdup is it better to find a job after I arrive or would it be easier to have a job lined up before I leave the USA? Also I have questions about visas again this is something I should do when I arrive or before I leave the states?

unless you are experienced in hotel/catering management etc you wont find a job in hotel services earning much more than $150-200 per month, as thats what the locals will work for
visas you sort out when youre here, and unless you got a degree in something and can job hunt decent positions online and have skype interviews, you are best of job hunting here,
but unless youre qualified in something you will be earning peanuts

Agree with Jamie. Don't want to stomp all over your dream, but if you want a proper job, then you will need some sort of qualification. Unskilled labour in Cambodia is very cheap and doesn't pay enough for most westerners to live on. Cost of living is also increasing, particularly in Phnom Penh.
Maybe contact some of the smaller foreign construction companies in Cambodia to see if there are openings for supervisor positions ? Construction is booming everywhere. Jamie will know more about this, and also whether there's any money in it.

hate to high jack your thread but

Hi all
I've never worked in a hospital but am thinking of getting into working as a surgeon ( something i always wanted to try) over there, do you think i'll get a decent job making at least $4,000/month?? I'd need something before i arrive as i have saved less than $500 from my current job , ( i work as a janitor in a local hs) so can just afford the airfare and am in debt from my student loan

Thanks :beer3:

curious;
whats with all these new posters wanting to move to Cambodia with zero qualification for being able to find a job in Cambodia and no fucking idea what Cambodia is about??

So JP ur a common laborer and want a job competing with the locals?? :stir:
