Apparition just try looking at the exchange rates, see if you may be better off bringing your pound notes and exchanging them here for the dollar.

I was thinking about this, it could well be the cheapest way - do I really want to be carrying a few grand in my hand luggage though?

I was thinking about this, it could well be the cheapest way - do I really want to be carrying a few grand in my hand luggage though?
I would be more concerned about leaving all my cash in a hotel room unless it has a very decent safe.

Maybe a Wise travel card loaded with US$. Having said that, if you lose your card or it gets trapped in an ATM machine, you are still up a gum tree.

Maybe a balance of the two?

I'm staying in an Airbnb for my first month (not to say that's any more secure though). I could bring some in cash/travel card and figure the rest out later.
