Does email work in Cambodia?
Does email work in Cambodia?
Hi, have silly question
Does email work in cambodia and is it used? I can not believe that there will be no email or it is not used, but my experience is different:
Send 40 emails to cambodian printing houses for printing job: 1 answer
Send 3 emails to Apasas autorities: no answer
Send email to [email protected] ministery of Tourisme: comes back as unknown user
Send email to [email protected] ministery of Information: comes back as unknown user
How can I communicate with the ministery's and with companies?

Try contacting them through Facebook ?
Re: Does email work in Cambodia?
Facebook, Facebook messenger and face to face are the only forms of contact in Cambodia...if you’re lucky, some Cambodians may even answer one of their half dozen phone numbers.

Re: Does email work in Cambodia?
That's not quite true, I've had luck in communicating with e-mail multiple times but as you can see,
it really depends on the organization and whether someone in there is sophisticated enough to do this.
Remember, English is not their language, being able to communicate in a totally foreign language implies a very high level of education.
I.e. it's worth a try but be ready for plan B.

Re: Does email work in Cambodia?
have had success with sms, gives people time to fashion an answer and obtain help info where needed without looking stupid. sure same could be said of email but sms is more personal and focused on their communication device (yeah well it sounds good )

Email works. Staff at printing shops don't.james1234 wrote:Hi, have silly question

The internet her is pretty good, actually.
Yes, the email gets sent, and probably arrives.
Maybe 50% get read.
Maybe 1% get answered.
Face to face, old boy.

To my big big suprise I got an answer on facebook Messenger from the minitry of information: Please call 012408377.
So Facebook does work better than e-mail?
Most suprising: I got this answer on 20.44 cambodian time. Does anyone work at that time in the ministry?
I will have my girlfriend call them tomorrow.

Excellent If there's one thing that works in Cambodia, and everyone uses, its book.james1234 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2017 12:29 am To my big big suprise I got an answer on facebook Messenger from the minitry of information: Please call 012408377.
